Global Wine Imports Decline in 2025
The top three wine import nations by volume (Germany, US, and UK) dominated the global wine import market by a wide margin in 2025. However, imports declined for all three when compared to 2024. In fact, imports by volume declined for all of the top wine import nations in 2025, except for Belgium and Portugal. Notably, China, the Netherlands, and Italy saw significant double-digit contraction of imports by volume in 2025.
In terms of wine imports by value, the United States was the world leader in 2025, followed by the United Kingdom, and then Germany a relative distant third. However, both the United States and the United Kingdom saw contractions in the value of their wine imports in 2025, whereas Germany realized growth in 2025.
