Spain Wine Grape Production, by Region

While Spain ranks year after year at or near the top of wine grape production in the world, it is the Castilla La Mancha region in central Spain that dominates the nation’s production, accounting for over 62% of Spain’s total production of wine grapes. Ranking a distant second is the Extremadura region responsible for 8.3% of the nation’s total production, followed by Castilla y León responsible for 5.9% and rounding out Spain’s top three grape-producing regions. Conversely, wine grape production in the Asturias and Cantabria regions are near negligible as a percent of Spain’s total, with both below 0.01%.
