
Italy regained the world's top spot in 2024, producing the most wine globally and displacing France which now ranks second in the world, according to the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV). Within Italy the region responsible for the greatest share of Italy's total production was Veneto, as this wine infographic shows. Veneto was the only region in Italy with wine production that accounted for 20% or more of the nation's output. The region in Italy with the next largest share of wine production was Puglia (Apulia) at 16.8%, followed by Emilia-Romagna at 14.4%.
