Rhône Valley Wine Map

France’s Rhône Valley is without doubt one of the most famous and treasured wine regions in the world. Renowned for its Grenache, Syrah, and white wine blends, this region is actually two distinct sub-regions. The northern Rhône is dominated by Syrah and the white grapes Viognier, Marsanne, and Roussane. The southern Rhône is noted especially for excellent red and white blends, including Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Not to be overlooked are the Diois and lesser known southern satellite appellations.

A wall map of the Rhône Valley wine region in France. The map depicts all delimited wine appellations/Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC) in the Rhône Valley, including the Diois and southern satellite appellations. The map highlights every village entitled to append its name to Côtes-du-Rhône Villages. The principal black and white grape varieties for each sub-region and the authorized wine type for every AOC are also included. An inset depicts the single vineyard AOC Château-Grillet.

All base map information is originally digitized from satellite imagery. Map includes digital shaded relief. All wine-related content is derived from official national sources and regional wine associations.
